Jimmy Lowe, Community Inclusion Specialist for the Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities (CCBDD), accompanied three Good Life Ambassadors to AEA Strongsville to speak with students about the importance of representation and belonging of everyone within the community. The Good Life Ambassadors are adults with developmental disabilities who are passionate about their community and self-advocacy. Their visit offered students a meaningful opportunity to learn from real-life experiences and gain a deeper understanding of how everyone can help build a stronger community.

Congratulations to the Lakewood 8th grade class for winning Best Attendance and Highest GPA for Middle School for the third quarter in a row! The seniors also won best attendance for the third quarter, but the Juniors closed in on them and won highest GPA for Quarter 3! The race is on for Quarter 4!
Lakewood students celebrated the end of quarter three with an Awards Ceremony this morning. Great job to all students!
Throwback Thursday: Albert Einstein Lakewood kicked off a reading initiative with an interactive family literacy night! Students gathered to hear about the program, learned some facts about the book everyone will be reading called "Fish in a Tree", learned more about the character named Ally who has dyslexia, and shared what they learned with the group. We also had some snacks and read the first two chapters together. Everyone left with their own copy of the book to continue reading at home!
Through the Egg Drop Challenge, the 10th-grade Leadership Excellence students learned to cultivate continuous learning behaviors like adaptability, creativity, resilience, and collaboration. By designing and constructing protective structures for raw eggs, students engaged in problem-solving, teamwork, and reflection to enhance their engineering skills and outcomes.
Both kindergarten classes have spent the last 5 weeks learning about different jobs. At the end of each week they got to ask questions to a person in the profession including a Strongsville Police officer, three Strongsville firefights, a scientist and a nurse from Cleveland Clinic.
During Leadership Excellence, Lakewood students had to create the tallest tower using marshmallows and spaghetti. This activity promoted continuous learning behaviors such as adaptability, creativity, resilience, and collaboration among students through a tower-building challenge.

This year AEA is rolling out a program to encourage families to come to the building for a fun night filled with activities around literacy! Any guesses on which two books were chosen for students in K-12 to read? You will all get your books soon but guesses are encouraged until we pass them out. For now, save the date!
AEA Lakewood students visited the Tri-C Metro Campus today to explore welding and manufacturing. Students were introduced to various career options, learned about the Workforce-Ready Program, and learned the importance of developing essential job skills. They also had the opportunity to network with college staff, instructors, and other professionals.
